Dear Members and Friends

Another week has flown and lumbered past. We have been glued to the news coming from all over the world as governments try to come to grips with the reality of this virus. We have heard about the growth of the disease in the USA and have been dismayed at the rising death toll. We have also been drawn into the debates over when we should allow things to go back to normal. Yet, we realise that whatever is going to happen next it is not going to be anything close to the normal we had just a few months ago.

I think I am still finding it hard to believe it has all happened in just a few weeks. We were just talking about bush fires and then about the rain before we were blindsided by COVID. I want to commend you for the way in which you are trying to stay connected. I have heard from a number of people how much they have appreciated the calls you have been making. One person told me how happy they were to make a new acquaintance and have a good chat. I want to encourage you to continue to make those calls even if you don’t know the person in question. What a good time to make a new friend!

I also want to thank you for your generous contributions to the continuing costs of running the church. Many of you have made direct deposits and others have dropped in your contribution to the church office. Thank you for these contributions. It means that there is one less thing to be concerned about.
